Several weeks ago, a beautiful young woman and her husband of 35 years came to one of our concerts. She shared an amazing story of
recovery from what doctors had called terminal cancer. Her recovery program included acupuncture and guided imagery tapes backed by
traditional slack key guitar music. Miracles really do happen!
Slack key music has always played a part in people healing, recovering, creating, or just feeling better. Many of the traditional
players were also healers. The stories of It's helping people are a constant source of inspiration. They energize us to keep "doing
the work ". We've continually donated CDs as well as our time and music to helping people feel better.
With this latest story of recovery, we realized that what we could do alone is not enough. More people and their animal friends need
access to this music. The world needs more aloha from the ancestors of Hawaii.
Aloha Plenty Farmers Needed!
Thousands of wonderful people, just like you, from all around the world visit us here in beautiful Kauai each year. If each of you helps to spread the seeds
of aloha around the world - to your hometowns and communities, we can make this beautiful music available everywhere. Your new job, as an Aloha
Farmer, sprouting seeds of aloha worldwide!
Share Aloha Program
Simple and elegant! For every $20 contributed, 2 CDs will be sent - one to a healing center and one to a school.
It will be accompanied by a card that may contain a contributor's name if you wish. The card includes information about slack key and
its ability to help people feel better. You may also specify a location or a particular healing center. So a $1000 contribution would send this music to 50
healing centers and 50 schools.
Is it tax deductible?
Nope. We chose to " live aloha " and do our work from our heart and our own resources. The gift is then real and is truly a gift of
aloha, a gift from our hearts. We designed this program to be in tune with our own philosophy and experience. If you are giving with an
expectation of return, it's not really giving.
The $20 covers costs of CD production, materials, shipping and handling. The same as when we send them ourselves.
Extinction of Slack Key?
The added benefit of this program is these gifts work to perpetuate the very much endangered art form of traditional Hawaiian
slack key guitar. Our slack key master on Molokai told us that as long as people continued to hear the music and the stories, they would carry it in their
hearts and this music would live on. With only a handful (literally) of people still playing and creating traditional style ki ho'alu (slack key), it is almost
gone. As an aloha farmer, you can help!
Mahalo for your support!
